The art of debating is an invaluable skill for students. It promotes confidence in public speaking, encourages critical thinking, builds social awareness and interest in current affairs and these benefits extend across all curriculum areas.

The college offers students the opportunity to participate in debating competitions facilitated by the Debaters Association of Victoria. Students in years 9-12 compete in the regional Schools Competition during semester one. This is a welcoming environment where students can hone their skills and build confidence in the art of debating. The college also hosts The Junior Secondary Program during semester two. The program provides training in the basic skills and structure of debating as well as giving students the opportunity to participate in friendly inter-school debates and receive feedback from accredited adjudicators.
